Our first Christmas Tree!
Check out the very first Christmas tree for our family! Impressive, I know. Looking back at that weekend I've decided that the years of watching ABC family Christmas movies as well as all the great classics has provided me with very high and somewhat inflated standards at Christmas time. Here is what I envisioned about our first tree decorating experience:
Getting Our Christmas tree, listening to Christmas carols at home while decorating the tree, drinking eggnog, laughing, singing and having a jolly old time. Such as Chevy Chase below.
In actuality we did the following: Picked out our Christmas tree, strung the lights, listened to no music, and The Mr. watched the ACC championship game while I hung all the ornaments.
Now, it is a big game and I love football...but I realized this: Christmas is about being together period. Whether your in the car, watching the football game, or picking out a Christmas tree...we women love to dream of how we think things should be during that moment rather than enjoying that very moment. Now was I dissapointed that The Mr. didn't help me hang up the ornaments but watched the ACC championship game...no. Was I was sad that my big dream didn't get fulfilled? Yes. Does it really matter? No. What matters is your loved ones and how short life really is to hope and wish for different things that aren't as wonderful as the person standing right in front of you. Christmas is a time for celebration, togetherness and love. And it is just that.
Merry Christmas my dear reader,
signed The Mrs.
